Buckhorn Geotech preparing feasibility report on Lake San Cristobal
Buckhorn Geotech is preparing a feasibility report for the Upper Gunnison Water Conservation District (UGWCD) to develop a stable storage plan for Lake San Cristobal in Hinsdale County. The lake provides water storage for Hinsdale County, Lake City, and the UGWCD users. The plan is required to address recreational uses, irrigation and municipal uses, and aesthetics and requires permitting with the State of Colorado Dam Safety Division, BLM and the US Army Corps.
Lake San Cristobal is Colorado’s 2nd largest natural lake which was formed about 800 years ago when a landslide deposit, the Slumgullion earth flow, blocked the Lake Fork of the Gunnison River.
