Construction Materials Testing

Construction Materials Testing is the final step in ensuring project excellence. Our technicians have received training in all areas of this phase of the construction process. The group provides:

The Ridgway River Park commercial/residential development in Ridgway, Colorado is an illustration of the integrated construction materials testing services.
This project began with a full range laboratory analysis of the native and import soils to be used. In-Place Moisture/Density Testing was performed, as required, during excavation and grading, utility installation and street sub-grade preparation.

Requisite Field Concrete Properties Testing and laboratory Concrete Compressive Strength Testing were carried out for all site concrete work. In-Place Asphalt Density Testing was performed during the street paving phase.

The Blue Jay Cafe and Lodge in Placerville, Colorado is another example of the wide range of our materials testing. The project was initiated in Buckhorn’s Civil Engineering division with water and sewer design. Our testing and inspection group was then utilized to inspect in-place water, sewer pipe and manholes.

During construction of the 13,500 gallon, cast-in-place treatment tank, steel inspection, concrete properties testing and concrete compressive strength tests were performed.

Inspection during water testing insured proper tank construction and water retention. Laboratory analysis of soils to be used for utility trench backfill furnished data for in-place moisture/density testing.

These landmark projects represent the extensive services available for the construction process. All field and lab work is followed up with thorough written reports reviewed by a Colorado-registered professional engineer.
