Structural Engineering

An adequate structural design is critical to the life of any building, from a residential home to a community center. Our engineers’ attention to detail assures our clients of the success of their projects.

We have experience in innovative structural design such as tire walls, earthships, and construction using straw bales.

Our Structural Group provides:

The Montrose Pavilion exemplifies Buckhorn’s structural design capabilities. Utilizing information provided by our Geotechnical Group, we devised a complete analysis of foundation alternatives which included a discussion of advantages, disadvantages and estimates of cost for shallow versus deep foundation systems.

Working with the project architect and the City of Montrose, we composed schematic designs, exploring alternative wall systems, roof systems and framing configurations suitable for the space allocations and aesthetic criteria. This process resulted in a decision matrix used to select the most appropriate and cost-effective building system.

Final plans provided complete foundation and framing design, together with appropriate details and construction specifications. We also administered quality control of pile installation, site development and framing construction.
